Mia Rao

Design always came easy to Mia Rao. When she was only five years old, her Mother designed and built a new family home. Mia has vivid memories of visiting the home during construction and always finding excitement in the process. Clearly, she became intrigued with interior space and architecture at an early age.

Mia earned a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from the University of Dayton, where she learned design trade skills and studied various fine art mediums. Her university experience enriched her design awareness, affording her the ability to see a “space” as a blank canvas for artistic and creative expression.

Various work experience with design firms and in high-end retail, has afforded Mia a tremendous foundation. Mia launched her own successful and growing Chicago-based interior design business in 2001, Mia Rao Design. Many projects continue in Chicago, California, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
